Ashley Rath | Rebuilding After Breast Cancer
Ashley is the founder and CEO of Rebuild-A-Bitch, a nonprofit whose goal is to ensure women impacted by cancer have both the mental and physical health support by providing scholarships for women to receive mental health or intimacy coaching. Ashley was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in April of 2021, and after a lengthy treatment plan that included three surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, she’s finally shifted from survival mode to learning how to support other women.
From her own experience, she knows the value of both physical movement and a focus on your mental health during a traumatic life experience such as cancer. Ashley lives in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri with her two daughters, Kate & Claire, and her pit-terrier mix, Melba. In her spare time, you can find her lifting weights as a novice competitive powerlifter.
During our conversation, Ashley opens up about her journey with breast cancer. She reflects on how her strong foundation in fitness supported her through treatment, the powerful life lesson cancer taught her, and the strategies she used to protect and strengthen her mental health during and after recovery. Ashley also shares the inspiration behind founding her nonprofit, Rebuild a Bitch, and the empowering meaning behind its bold name. Additionally, she highlights some integrative therapies that played a key role in her healing after treatment.
