John Norred | Veteran Shares His Story of Healing Colon Cancer

John is a retired Marine, a combat veteran, with tours to Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and many others. He served mainly in the infantry and special operations. After John left the Marines, he struggled with issues stemming from Traumatic Brain Injury and PTS(D) (Post Traumatic Stress). As a result, he attempted suicide, went through a very traumatic and nasty divorce, to which he was charged with a crime. He lost $4.3 Million and went to prison. Upon release from prison, things were looking good. He was on the road to recovery, healing from traumatic brain injury and Post Traumatic Stress, created a business, and was able to reach out and help others, in particular veterans, pro athletes, first responders, and cancer patients.

Then, in 2022, he was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. He hit a wall, but at that point in his life all he wanted was to live. He chose to fight and beat this cancer through fitness, nutrition and holistic healing, along with a kickass mindset of not failing.

John is a resilience and life coach, project manager, and loves to run marathons and ultramarathons.

During our conversation, John shares what led him to join the marines, how 9/11 changed his entire life, how his traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress led him on a path of self-destruction, how he bounced back after hitting rock bottom, how he was diagnosed with colon cancer after getting his life back on track, the lessons he learned from other cancer patients, how his time in the military helped him overcome cancer, and what he does to this day to remain healthy.
