Dr. Paul Marik | Repurposed Drugs and Metabolic Interventions for Treating Cancer

Dr. Marik has had an immeasurable impact on the practice of medicine and the aspiring physicians he has educated throughout his over 30 years as a critical care doctor and professor of medicine. He is a pioneer in the practice of critical care medicine and is responsible for developing several treatment protocols that have been used around the world to save the lives of countless people, most notably his revolutionary work in developing the standard of care for the treatment for sepsis, and for his outstanding contributions to the successful protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, medical professionals were looking for answers, trying to find ways to treat the growing number of patients that were suffering and dying with virtually no treatment options available. As a lifelong advocate for the advancement of science and independent thought and guided by his strong belief in collaborating with peers, Dr. Marik began exchanging information with his colleagues around the world on several approaches that were showing promise using known medications that were readily available to safely treat COVID patients with success. It was from those exchanges and collective learning that the FLCCC was born.In a short time, the FLCCC grew to become an organization led by some of the world’s leading physicians, scientists, and scholars. While many in medicine were still waiting for guidance from the government and medical authorities, the FLCCC was providing lifesaving treatment protocols for the world to use in fighting an enemy that seemed invincible. Because of the work of Dr. Marik and the FLCCC we know that COVID-19 is a highly preventable and treatable illness.Dr. Marik began his career in medicine in 1989 when he was an attending physician and assistant professor and Associate Director, ICU in the Department of Intensive Care at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa. In 1992 Dr. Marik began his career in the United States as an assistant professor at Wayne State University Department of Internal Medicine and as the Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Detroit Receiving Hospital. After several appointments at medical schools in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, Dr. Marik settled at East Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in 2009.Throughout his career Dr. Marik has been dedicated to medical research, publishing over 460 papers in peer-reviewed journals worldwide. In 2004 Dr. Marik was ranked 18th Leading Critical Care Investigator, as measured by number of publications between 1997 and August 2003. Today Dr. Marik remains the second most published critical care physician in the world.Earlier this year Dr. Marik left his position at EVMS to dedicate more time to the FLCCC and fighting for the independence of all medical professionals to have the freedom to do their jobswithout unwarranted interference from authorities and fear and intimidation driven by commercial interests. His latest work is an extensive review of the evidence on the use of repurposed medications in treating cancer. Using the findings of over 800 peer-reviewed studies, Dr. Marik and his team developed a monograph that is intended to educate physicians and their patients about the often-overlooked role repurposed medications, supplements and lifestyle habits have in cancer treatment protocols. During our conversation Dr. Marik shares how his cancer care monograph empowers patients to take control of their treatment plan, his recommendations for preventing and treating cancer, the important role Vitamin D plays in immune strength, an important myth about the cause of melanoma, and which cancers are more responsive to chemotherapy and which ones are not.For more information and to find The Cancer Care Monograph, go to FLCCC.NETThe Cancer Liberation Project is sponsored by thekarlfeldtcenter.com
