A must-read about cancer, life and a near-death experience
Hi my friends!
It’s so hard to believe it’s been almost a year since everything shut down! I’m definitely getting antsy for some sense of normalcy, especially spending time with family and friends without restrictions. I’m sure you are too!
Fortunately, we were able to get away to some nice weather a couple of weeks ago and I read a book that I couldn’t wait to tell you about. It’s called, “Dying to Be Me: My Journey from Cancer to Near Death to True Healing”, by Anita Moorjani. In it, she describes her near-death experience as a result of having end stage cancer. Now before you say that this sounds depressing, stay with me, as it was the most comforting book on life, death and health that I have ever read. I believe that anyone who has lost a loved one, has been touched by cancer or just wants to improve their life, must read this book.
In her memoir, Anita describes how she felt herself leaving this world as her body began to shut down. She began to enter a new realm; one she describes as pure love and acceptance. Here she realizes her inherent worth after years of feeling like she never really belonged.
Born in Singapore and raised in Hong Kong to Hindu parents, Anita was immersed in three cultures. Her dad was very strict and expected her to conform to his cultural norms and traditions. One of them was having an arranged marriage. This is something that did not sit right with her but what weighed on her more was disappointing her parents.
What added to her lack of self-worth and sense of belonging was that she was often bullied at school for having dark skin. In the “other realm”, she had a strong sense about why she became sick and learned what it took to heal herself. Despite being at odds with her father, she now felt unconditional love from him. In fact, he told her that she had more to do in this world and it was her choice to go back.
After years of struggling to be herself while trying to meet everyone’s standards for her, Anita had the realization that she had the power to heal herself and had nothing to fear. She was ready to come back to this world and knew that she was going to help others heal. She saw with clarity that her many fears throughout her life, along with her immense power had manifested as the disease. She knew if she came back to this world she would be completely healed from the cancer.
A few weeks later, she left the hospital without a trace of cancer in her body! She has remained cancer-free ever since and teaches others about her NDE to empower them to heal and live their best lives.
Here are some of the important lessons she shares in her teachings:
- If someone makes you feel disempowered, run, they’re not working for your good
- When someone gives you information or advice, check in with yourself and ask, “Does this feel true in my gut? Do I feel empowered or disempowered?” Then you can decide if this is something you want to examine further.
- Are you giving your power away to teachers, healers, doctors and gurus? Know that the power is actually in you
- You dim your souls light when you say you’re not worthy. It’s so important to love yourself and know you’re worthy just because you were born
- It’s not about being more and doing more, it’s about seeing yourself as you really are—a beautiful, brilliant soul who chose to express itself in this physical body
- Self-love is not just about self-care and saying you’re beautiful, it’s being there for yourself even when no one else is there for you
I could keep going, but please read Anita’s book if you want to learn more! You will be so glad you did!
With love and good health,
